Buyer Safety Guidelines

Before Meeting a Seller:

1.Check the seller's profile and reviews from other buyers
2.Ask detailed questions about the motorcycle's condition and history
3.Request multiple photos and video (if possible) before meeting
4.Verify ownership documents and check for outstanding loans
5.Never share your national ID number or personal details unnecessarily

During the Meeting:

1.Meet in a public, safe location during daylight hours
2.Bring a trusted friend or family member with you
3.Inspect the motorcycle thoroughly and test ride if possible
4.Verify all documents match the motorcycle details
5.Use secure payment methods and never hand over cash before verification

Red Flags to Watch:

⚠Prices significantly below market value
⚠Sellers avoiding documentation or inspection
⚠Pressure to decide quickly or pay before seeing the bike
⚠Mismatched or missing documents
⚠Seller unable to provide proof of ownership
⚠Stolen or cloned license plates

Seller Safety Guidelines

Protecting Your Motorcycle:

1.Never hand over keys or documents until payment is verified
2.Meet in well-lit, public locations with witnesses present
3.Use secure payment methods (bank transfer, check verification)
4.Take photos of the buyer's ID (with their permission) for your records
5.Complete all paperwork and transfer documents properly

Building Trust:

1.Provide accurate, detailed descriptions and clear photos
2.Be responsive to buyer inquiries and answer questions honestly
3.Disclose any defects, repairs, or issues with the motorcycle
4.Maintain a verified seller profile with complete information
5.Encourage honest feedback and respond professionally to reviews

Fraud Prevention & Reporting

Common Fraud Schemes:

•Overpayment Scams: Buyer offers more than asking price, requests refund of difference
•Fake Payment Confirmations: Scammers send fake bank receipts or payment screenshots
•Stolen Photos: Listings using photos of motorcycles from other sites
•Title Washing: Selling motorcycles with salvage or stolen title history
•Hitching: Selling motorcycles with outstanding loans or liens

Provide as much detail as possible, including listing ID, user information, and description of the issue. We investigate all reports promptly.

Payment Security

Safe Payment Methods:

✓Bank Transfer: Verify recipient before sending, keep proof of transfer
✓Check/Cheque: Always wait for check clearance before handing over motorcycle
✓Escrow Service: Consider using a third-party escrow for large purchases
✓Split Payment: Deposit with balance after inspection and documents transfer

Avoid These Methods:

✗Cash-only transactions (difficult to trace, no recourse)
✗Western Union or MoneyGram (sender cannot reverse)
✗Gift cards or cryptocurrency (irreversible)
✗Prepayment before verification (high fraud risk)

Legal Protection

All transactions on BikeKade are subject to applicable Sri Lankan laws and regulations. We recommend:

•Keep all documentation related to the purchase (receipts, checks, transfers)
•Ensure proper registration transfer within the required timeframe
•Obtain written proof of sale for warranty purposes
•Consult with legal professionals for high-value transactions
